Strong Through the Shift: A Menopause Workshop
Menopause is a natural transition — but many women reach it without clear information or practical support. This workshop is designed for women in the LPY community who want to understand what’s happening in their bodies, learn realistic strategies for navigating change, and feel empowered to support their long-term health and vitality.
We’ll begin with Menopause Basics — a clear, approachable explanation of menopause and perimenopause, the typical life context many women experience during this stage, and the physical and emotional changes that often arise. We’ll discuss how shifting hormone levels affect energy, sleep, mood, metabolism, and overall well-being.
Next, we’ll explore the physiological changes that occur as estrogen declines, including impacts on bone density, muscle mass, cardiovascular health, pelvic floor function, and brain health — and why proactive support makes a meaningful difference.
The core of the workshop focuses on whole-body health strategies, including:
• Skeletal health and bone protection
• Muscular strength and functional movement
• Pelvic floor health
• Cardiovascular health
• Nutrition for changing metabolic needs
• Brain health, including sleep disruption, stress sensitivity, and “brain fog”A key emphasis will be the role of functional movement and yoga as a foundation. Many women already practice yoga, using postures that are common to both yoga and resistance training thereby establishing the building blocks for lifelong strength, balance, and mobility. We’ll discuss how poses like chair, horse stance, 90-90 half split and balance work naturally prepare the body for progressive strength training — making the transition from mat to weights feel accessible and safe.
