Meet Ewa! LPY Graduate, Country Club Fitness Manager & Personal Trainer and Yoga Teacher

What LPY Teacher Training did you take (200 or 300 hour) and how did it affect you/get you started/change things for you?

I took both, 200h and 300h, teacher trainings at LPY. The 200h gave me wonderful fundamentals and taste of what yoga is all about, while helping with self exploration and overcoming personal fears. The 300h dove bit deeper, pushing me even more out of comfort zone in terms of teaching and personal growth. Both trainings granted me certifications that I use all the time, for example ball rolling, Balance Athlete, Reiki. Also both gave me lifetime friends and unforgettable memories.

How do you use what you learned from your training?

I use the knowledge I gained thru my trainings every time I teach yoga, but also at work and my personal life. These teacher trainings aren’t only about how to put yoga poses together but they are also an exploration of all aspects of your being and perceptions. I learned to be more curious, patient and respectful with (my and other people’s) body and mind.

Are you currently working as a yoga teacher or how are you using your yoga knowledge?

You have to know, when I signed up for 200h TT I didn’t have any intention to teach. ZERO intention, really. But after overcoming my huge fear of speaking in front of people I decided to share the amazing things I learned.

With pure joy and honor I teach at LPY weekly since. I also teach yoga at a private country club, where I work full time as a Fitness Coordinator and Personal Trainer.

In addition, yoga guides me in my personal life on multiple levels. On daily basis I catch myself reaching for tools and lessons I gained in my teacher trainings, making me a healthier person. Being healthier gives me strength, courage and ability to help, to share and to give back. Although, my family might sick of me saying: “well, what I learned thru yoga might help you here …”

What was the best part of your training at LPY?

Oh there are so many things I loved about my trainings at LPY! If I had to pick one, I must say: teachers. LPY presents you with an extraordinary selection of mentors from across the state and country, each so very passionate and wise in their area of interest that it becomes contagious. Honestly, every day I use teachings of Johnny Gillespie (functional movement), Alex Crow (accessibility and sustainability), Alyssa Hale (ball rolling and movement) and Jen Geller (anatomy). Either it’s with clients in yoga and personal training, or with a family member and my own body. Regularly I sneak in Reiki, Ayurveda and energetic wisdom I learned from Jacqui Bonwell, Tina Adoniou, Preeta Banerjee, and Allison Derrico during group classes, privates and even with my beloved animals. (PS. Animals love reiki!)And of course the masterminds behind it all, Lorraine Shedoudi, Jillian McDonough, Linda Spolidoro, Jen Murray- brilliant yet humble teachers of kindness, mindfulness, authenticity and resilience. They care so much for their community and for you as an individual. I believe teachers are what makes LPY Teacher Trainings unique, valuable, safe, challenging and FUN all at the same time. Hey, they inspired ME to become one after all!
